๐ Advantages & Idols
Season 39: Island of the Idols
Elizabeth Beisel (Day None, Ep 1)
Elizabeth was the first castaway sent to Island of the Idols from Lairo after their first immunity loss. She met mentors Boston Rob and Sandra. Her test was a fire-making competition against Rob Mariano, which she lost. As a penalty, she lost her vote at the next tribal council. She kept this consequence secret. Since she was already in the women's alliance, her missing vote had no impact and she escaped tribal without anyone knowing she didn't vote. She did NOT receive an advantage.
Vince Moua (Day 7, Ep 3)
Vince was summoned to Island of the Idols on Day 7. His test was to sneak into the opposing Vokai tribe's camp at night and return with a lit torch by lighting it on their fire. Since Vokai's fire was out, Vince improvised by placing coal from the fire pit into his water bottle as proof. Rob and Sandra accepted his creative solution and awarded him a temporary Hidden Immunity Idol valid for the next two tribal councils. The women's alliance blindsided Vince on Day 8 (Episode 3) specifically because they suspected he received an idol, voting him out 5-3-1 while he held the unused idol.
Noura Salman (Day None, Ep 3)
Noura volunteered to visit Island of the Idols on Day 9, becoming the first person to volunteer and the first offered an advantage other than a Hidden Immunity Idol. Her test: convince her Vokai tribe to let her be the caller in the upcoming immunity challenge, in exchange for a Vote Blocker. She performed poorly during practice and got caught in lies. Her tribe sat her out of the challenge anyway. Since she failed the test, she did NOT receive the Vote Blocker and instead lost her vote at the next tribal council as a penalty.
Kellee Kim (Day 12, Ep 4)
Day 19, Episode 7
For: Dean Kowalski
5 votes negated
Kellee was the first Vokai member sent to Island of the Idols on Day 12, where she earned a temporary Hidden Immunity Idol good for her next three tribal council visits. She hid it in her hair while feigning not receiving anything. On Day 19 (Episode 7), Kellee made a strategic move by giving the idol to Dean Kowalski to play on himself. Dean played it at tribal council, negating 5 votes against him and resulting in Jack Nichting's elimination in a 2-0 vote after idol negation.
Kellee Kim (Day 17, Ep 6)
After the tribe swap to Lairo, the entire tribe hunted for the rehidden idol. Kellee was able to find it on Day 17. She held this idol into the merge but did not play it. At the merge tribal (Episode 8), believing she had the numbers to eliminate Dan Spilo, she chose not to play either of her two idols. The plan failed and Kellee was blindsided in an 8-5 vote, becoming the second player in Survivor history to exit the game holding two Hidden Immunity Idols.
Kellee Kim (Day 22, Ep 7)
Kellee found her third idol shortly before the merge tribal council on Day 22, setting the franchise record for most Hidden Immunity Idols found by a woman in a single season. Despite holding two idols (this one and the Day 17 idol), she chose not to play either, confident she had the votes to eliminate Dan. She was voted out 8-5 at the merge tribal (Episode 8), exiting with two unused idols โ a devastating miscalculation.
Jamal Shipman (Day 11, Ep 4)
Jamal found a Hidden Immunity Idol after Molly Byman's blindside at an early vote and used it strategically to work back into the majority after the tribe switch. However, when he visited Island of the Idols and lost his vote as a penalty, he chose to write a fake Legacy Advantage to give to Dean rather than playing his real idol. Jamal was voted out at the next tribal council (Episode 9) without playing his idol, becoming the third jury member.
Jamal Shipman (Day 21, Ep 8)
Jamal and Karishma found an advantage hanging from a tree, with Jamal grabbing it first. At Island of the Idols, Rob and Sandra explained that Jamal lost his vote as a penalty for grabbing the advantage. They gave him a pencil and parchment to create any advantage he imagined. Jamal wrote a fake Legacy Advantage and gave it to Dean Kowalski to put a target on Dean's back. The deception backfired โ Dean believed it was real and the fake advantage did not shift voting dynamics against Dean as intended.
Elaine Stott (Day 12, Ep 5)
Day 13, Episode 5
For: Elaine Stott
0 votes negated
Elaine obtained a Vote Blocker from Island of the Idols on Day 12. She received help from her ally Elizabeth Beisel in securing it during the immunity challenge. At the tribal council on Day 13 (Episode 5), Elaine used the Vote Blocker to prevent Jason Linden from voting. With Jason unable to vote, he was eliminated 4-3, solidifying Elaine's alliance position heading into the merge.
Janet Carbin (Day 23, Ep 8)
Janet found her first Hidden Immunity Idol the morning after Kellee's blindside at the merge, fearing she would be the next target. She held this idol through the post-merge game. It is unclear exactly when or if this first idol was played separately from her second idol.

Janet found her second Hidden Immunity Idol after a reward challenge on Day 31. At the Final 5 tribal council on Day 37 (Episode 13), Janet played her idol to save herself. However, Dean Kowalski used an Idol Nullifier against her, completely negating the idol's protection. Janet was voted out 4-1 in a devastating blow. Tommy and Lauren โ players Janet had confided in about her idol โ disclosed this information to Dean, enabling his counter-play.
Karishma Patel (Day 27, Ep 10)
Day 28, Episode 10
For: Karishma Patel
7 votes negated
Karishma found a Hidden Immunity Idol before Day 27 after feeling emotionally worn down from being an outsider. She played it at the Episode 10 tribal council on Day 28, negating a massive 7 votes against her. The result was a 1-1 tie between Elizabeth and Janet, which forced a revote. Karishma changed her vote to Elizabeth on the revote, resulting in Elizabeth's elimination. It was one of the most dramatic idol plays of the season.
Lauren Beck (Day 28, Ep 10)
Day 29, Episode 10
For: Lauren Beck
0 votes negated
Lauren visited Island of the Idols on Day 28 and accepted the mentors' challenge: correctly predict who would win the next individual immunity challenge, in exchange for a temporary Hidden Immunity Idol valid for two tribal councils. Lauren demonstrated strong social gameplay by convincing nearly all players to sit out of the challenge, except Elizabeth and Noura โ the two she predicted would compete. Noura won as Lauren predicted, earning Lauren the idol. She played it at the next tribal (Day 29), but it negated no votes against her. Elizabeth was voted out instead.
Elaine Stott (Day 32, Ep 11)
Day 33, Episode 11
For: Elaine Stott
0 votes negated
Elaine found a Hidden Immunity Idol at camp. She played it on herself at the Episode 11 tribal council on Day 33, but it negated no votes against her. The idol play was unsuccessful as she was not the target that round. Elaine was later voted out at the following tribal council.
Dean Kowalski (Day 34, Ep 12)
Day 37, Episode 13
For: Dean Kowalski
0 votes negated
Dean was sent to Island of the Idols on Day 34. He was offered a choice of three advantages: Extra Vote, Idol Nullifier, or a non-transferable Hidden Immunity Idol for Day 35. Dean chose the Idol Nullifier but had to win a coin toss to secure it โ he won. At the Final 5 tribal council on Day 37 (Episode 13), Dean deployed the Idol Nullifier against Janet Carbin, successfully neutralizing her Hidden Immunity Idol and sending her to the jury in a 4-1 vote. Tommy and Lauren had informed Dean about Janet's idol plan.
Dean Kowalski (Day 37, Ep 13)
When the merged tribe relocated to Island of the Idols on Day 36, Tommy found a clue on his buff indicating an idol was hidden somewhere on the island. Because Tommy was color-blind, he asked Dean for assistance decoding the remaining clues. Dean decoded them and located the idol for himself rather than Tommy. Dean never needed to play this idol as he won immunity challenges on Days 35 and 37 and made it to the Final Tribal Council, where he lost to Tommy Sheehan in a 8-0-2 vote.
